Green Dining Alliance
The Green Dining Alliance, an initiative of St. Louis Earth Day, is a program committed to working with St. Louis restaurants to reduce their environmental impact. By considering all areas of operations, the GDA puts strong emphasis on reducing, recycling and composting restaurant waste as well as sourcing sustainable food, to-go ware and cleaning supplies.
The GDA will support its objectives through the following activities:
- Reduce environmental impact of restaurants while preserving business goals, and controlling costs
- Support innovation by providing micro-grants to restaurants for sustainability improvements
- Expand the number of sustainable dining opportunities in the St. Louis area
- Connect restaurants and consumers to sustainable resource options
- Create an accessible database of sustainable dining locations
- Develop holistic restaurant certification process
- Personalize sustainability programs for each restaurant
- Educate restaurant staff and consumers
- Encourage consumers and restaurants to take sustainable restaurant practices into consideration when making dining decisions
