Past Symposia

St. Louis Earth Day is in its eleventh straight year of hosting a symposium targeting local government staff and officials and the professional community that serves them and works within their jurisdictions. Historically, symposia have taken place in the spring to include this audience in Earth Day festivities and to provide resources for ongoing improvements in environmental stewardship through governmental leadership. As of 2009, symposia are now held in the fall as we strive to make earth day every day!

In the past, symposia have focused on water quality issues but were broadened in 2009 to consider the current economic condition and its relationship to the environment.

Year after year, the Symposium is stitched together by a team of volunteer professionals and community leaders under the facilitation of St. Louis Earth Day. Without their help, the event would pale in comparison to the vibrant program that returns year after year, adapting to reflect the interests of the planning committee and the most pressing environmental issues of the day.
