ACTIVITIES!
Highlights of the festival include “Think Outside the Box”, an open art area where children and adults created a one-of-a-kind container to remind them to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and The Earth Day Challenge, which encouraged everyone to bring a bag for purchases, a water bottle to re-fill and use alternative transportation to get to Forest Park. Visitors who accomplished two of the three challenges received an eco-friendly prize at the Information Booth.
NEIGHBORHOODS!
A themed-neighborhood layout made it easy for visitors to navigate the Festival and experience all the celebration had to offer. Visitors explored the following neighborhoods at the Festival: Energy; Pet Care and Wildlife; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; Arts and Crafts; Wellness; the Earth Day Café; Nature; Home; Transportation; and, the Farmer’s Market. Each neighborhood featured seating areas, providing a space for discussion, exchange and brief respite. Additionally, visitors were invited to reflect upon their experiences, and learn about spiritual connections with the Earth at the Peace Garden.
FOOD & DRINK!
There were over 20 food vendors present, offering diverse cuisine ranging from vegetarian jambalaya and mushroom ravioli to organic lamb and chicken gyros. No trans-fat, highly processed or high fructose corn syrup menu items were allowed! Also on site were vendors of locally brewed beer, locally distilled rum and wine crafted locally with local grapes! Pet watering stations were also available in the Pet Care Neighborhood and at several water fountains on the site.
TRANSPORTATION!
St. Louis Earth Day encouraged Festival attendees to use alternative methods of transportation to make the event more environmentally friendly and to reduce the heavy traffic into Forest Park. The St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation offered free valet bike parking on site.
